adding seat belt covers....

I will be adding seat belt covers to my Etsy over the weekend. I had a custom order!!!  She has ordered 6!
One of them is of our Edmonton Eskimos colors which shouldn't be too hard. She also wants one with my choice. I'm not too sure about this one, but I will figure it out. I may just make a couple extras and then take them all for her to decide! lol  If anyone wants a tutorial, I will be taking pictures as I go as well. I will be hopefully be able to upload it all onto Craftster I hope it will allow me to add pics this time.

I spent the last couple of days with Joey and it has been interesting.  He has such a vivid imagination that he surprised me a couple times!  He also helped me with colors for the Eskimo seat belt cover which was kinda funny. I had picked a couple different ribbons and wasn't sure which one to pick. He told me the yellowy one, I ended up buying the two I had narrowed it down to and turned out he was right!! LOL

I have designed a purse for Meghan's 17th birthday this weekend. I'm not sure I'm going to get it done, but I hope to otherwise she'll have the mock up I did.  It is going to be a smaller messenger bag with extra pockets for her diabetic items, her tester, needles, etc.  That way she won't have an excuse not to have it in there!  I am also working on a clutch type for me. Ron's Christmas party for work is the weekend of our anniversary (Nov 27) and the purses I have are all huge! I don't want to have to take all my things with me, just a lip gloss a comb, gum and my Epi-pen. Most commercial type clutches don't have enough length for my Epi-pen so I will make one and have an elastic on the side for it to be anchored in there. I will add pics as soon as I get it done. I don't know what color yet because I haven't decided on my dress yet! lol

Happy Halloween!!!

So today I had to make cupcakes for my youngest Halloween party. One of the children has diabetes, so I found one of the recipes I make for Meghan who is also diabetic.  They were a hit with most of the kids. One little girl didn't like chocolate?! But the little one with diabetes was happy that someone had thought of him for a change.

Anyways, here's the recipe. I took a pic of the ones that I have here at home, but I forgot to take pics of the ones I took to Joey's class. Duh!! The recipe was out of the Splenda cookbook by Marlene Koch. We use alot of recipes out of this cookbook.

Chocolate Cupcakes
2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup Splenda Sugar blend for baking (I didn't have this, so I made it half sugar half Splenda)
2 Large eggs
1 1/2 cups cake flour
1/2 cup dutch process cocoa powder
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla

1- Preheat oven to 350. Place paper cups om muffin tins.
2- Put butter and Splenda in a medium bowl, use and electric mixer to cream until light and fluffy
3- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition
4- In a medium bowl, combine cake flour, cocoa, baking soda and baking powder. Whisk to combine
5- Add 1/2 the flour mix to the egg mix; then add 1/2 the buttermilk and the vanilla.  Mix at low speed and repeat, finishing with the last 1/2 cup of buttermilk
6- Spoon batter into cups, filling 2/3 full. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean.

cupcake in a mug  :)

I had some batter leftover and didn't want to put into a liner. So I grabbed a couple of mugs and divided the batter between the two.  Put them into the microwave for 1:30 minutes and there was some good cupcakes. I also had to have whip cream with them, which is in the bowl to the left in the pic.

photo Sunday

I went out with my son, hubby and our friend and her kids to take pictures of them and the wildlife.  We got some good pics of both.  Here is my favorite one of my son. Isn't he cute! lol

I am hoping to make some different meals this week that I haven't attempted before.  I'm not sure if I'll succeed, but I'm going to try! I want to try and get my kids to taste different flavours.  I have tried Mexican, Chinese, but I want to try different things.  I have to be careful because Meghan has diabetes so we can't have things that are too sweet or anything.  I know I can bake different things, but haven't really tried different menus so this will be interesting.  Any ideas? I was thinking maybe Italian or something like that since my kids like pasta dishes. I'll let you know what I decide.

On another note, I finally got my Etsy up and running!! Yah Me!!  I put up a coffee cozy and some covered notebooks.  I have more to put up but their pics didn't work out so well.  I will retake them tomorrow and add them as well.  I don't know if I'll succeed at it, but I won't know if I don't try!!

Friday night sewing.

I was actuallly able to get into my sewing room last night and sew with the group! YAH!!  I didn't get alot done, but I did get a couple coffee cozies done and a notebook cover for a friend's birthday.  I don't have pictures of it, yet, as I haven't got my lens back from the repair depot. I will add pics before I give it to her though.

I was also able to organize more of my room. I have a love hate relationship with organizing. I love how it makes my room look, but it makes me soooo tired.  I have just found out I have fibromyalgia. (actually I have known for a while, but finally diagnosed lol)   What I didn't know was the low energy I have is part and parcel of that disorder. :(

So what do you have planned this weekend. Joey and I are making beaded spiders to get ready for Halloween. We love to get dressed up and try to dress up the house a bit.  However, I'm not sure Lucky will allow it lol

Tomorrow I lose another kid back to his normal grind. It's going to be so quiet around here. I will have to find something to do with myself LOL The weather is looking up for the weekend as well so I am looking forward to walking the dog. It will be so much fun with Joey and Lucky in the snow LOL

We are planning a visit to Las Vegas in May, and hopefully we'll be going with friends. I haven't been there before so it should be interesting! I'm not looking for the casino etc, but I want to be able to see the different things that you can find there. We have found some interesting discounts etc down there so it should be interesting. I want to go see Cirque de Soliel but some of their shows can be pricey so we'll have to see.
